The Spanish Association of Tourism Automobiles (SEAT is the Spanish acronym) was founded in 1949 by Spain’s National Industry Institute in a bid to manufacture cars similar to the Italian FIAT. The first SEAT was put out in 1953 (SEAT 1 400), a version of FIAT 1 400 with Hispanic license. Barcelona-based SEAT factories are presently managed by German Volkswagen.

SEAT has probably been one of the logotypes that have suffered more modifications in 63 years of history. The first one was applied in the 1970s and the last one in the late 1990s.
