The Matadero of Madrid can be the setting for a lovely cultural adventure. In this imaginative space, today integrated to the industrial heritage south of the city, you can make an impressive tour.
For that journey from past to present, and future, to capture the historical treasure that lives in these buildings and more importantly, the transcendent and constructive proposals that each year the art market gives us, only is required a very sensitive, imaginative and sensitive soul.
Started in 1993, the contemporary art fair Estampa is among the most reputable in the country and no less important internationally, with its program of collectors, forums, debates and other parallel initiatives.
The edition of September 2016 brings two new products. The first, an ambitious program of visits and meetings with relevant management professionals and curators from around the world, coordinated by the Hablarenarte (speak in art) Association. The attendance of important celebrities from Amsterdam, Luxemburg, Poland, Austria, London, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary and Italy, among others has been already confirmed.
The second, a special program of international collectors, coordinated by Eva Ruiz and her agency Arternativ, brings together European specialists in this field.
As in previous editions of Estampa, there is a space for the promotion of collecting in Spain through lectures, meetings and exhibiting areas.
This year the discussion forums have been interested in promoting social extension strategies in collecting contemporary art and the internationalization of the Spanish language. They have also focused on analyzing the art market in Valencia and in the autonomous community of Castilla La Mancha.
The breadth and comprehensiveness of the event are completed by the sections of cultural projects, books and publications dedicated to the design as well as the store of the fair with objects and editions. It is also part of it awards and scholarships, and the programs General galleries and MAPA, the latter designed to collect expressions of emerging artistic hybridizations.
