- Uncertainty alive?
The main event of visual arts in Brazil will remain open until December 11th. These days it exhibits 81 artists from 33 countries in the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion; which happens to be one of Oscars Neimeyer designs for the Biennale of São Paulo.
It was in 1951 when Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho (1892-1977), better known as Ciccillo, was determined to found the Biennale of São Paulo. Apparently the entrepreneur sensed that this event would become one of the top three international art circuits alongside the Venice Biennale (Italy) and Documenta in Kassel (Germany).
Since its genesis, the Biennale professes to be responsible for projecting the work of unknown international artists and reflect the trends that most influence the global art scene. So it has been from the outset that its halls have exhibited important artists such as Pablo Picasso, Candido Portinari, Di Cavalcanti, Rene Magritte and Victor Grippo. Italian Futurists and Mexican muralists and even Max Bill, primarily responsible arrival concretism in Latin America, have taken part in such a remarkable event
This year 2016, the 32th International Art Biennial of São Paulo has been curated by Jochen Volz. According to new trends, it shows us that a work of art, rather than an object or event, represents a world view. This time the curatorial concept brings us closer to the production processes and studios and workshops than the works themselves..
