What is furtive is done secretly without permission and surreptitiously. An unexpected action, rarely planned, and given the unusual circumstances can cause immense pleasure to the participant. One who engages in furtive, can be described as a hopeful hunter who does not care about the consequences. The "furufo" of what is furtive is one that goes in search of prey, not knowing what to expect.
In the Dominican Republic there is an artistic movement that was born about four years ago, in the studio of Don Thimo Pimentel. Thimo is versatile artist, photographer, medical and cultural manager. The so-called Furtive Art involves from the elaboration of beautiful pieces of pottery to Raku style to public participation in a collective performance of clandestine dreams come true. It is a unique style in the world.
Since very little Thimo Pimentel was interested in different artistic disciplines, especially photography. He was also interested in typography, drawing and later by ceramics. As he lived in the vicinity of the School of Fine Arts, he learned watching the artists who were trained there. Then he joined pottery workshops, but he is considered a self-taught. Anyway the originality of his work as a visual artist and performances always stand out. The abstract form and use of unexpected materials are the two most important features of his style. His murals are perhaps the best-designed decorative works of the Dominican Republic. His main legacy is the Furtive Art.
