Rosita Fornés, a most outstanding star of Cuba and the Americas, belongs to the lineage of the great Cuban artists who, on account of their human and professional values in the first place, have transcended their time and generation. She has been respected and admired by all those of us who have had the privilege of knowing her unrivaled art.
A beautiful woman in the physical aspect, but above all with a beautiful soul and a refined sensibility, Rosita was born on February 11, 1923 in New York. Of Spanish ancestors and an art lover, she lived for several years in Mexico. But, as she herself has expressed more than once, she is authentically Cuban.
Beyond all the well-deserved and well-earned titles, decorations, awards, prizes and medals, bestowed by respectable national and foreign institutions, she is a paradigmatic artist and a genuine diva.  A master of the stage, she has devoted herself to her audience. This is the reason why she has been graced with the greatest prize to which every genuine artist may aspire to: the spontaneous claim and applause of the audience. She enjoys the sincere recognition, utmost respect and unconditional love of her people: a nation whose most genuine dreams and achievements she has always quite identified with.
