NER-A-CAR
Willy Hierro Allen
A peculiar motorcycle was launched in the American market in the 1920s. It was advertised as the “two-wheel car” and they said it was the transport solution for people who didn’t have enough money to buy a car. Created by Carl A. Neracher, from Syracuse (New York), it was named Ner-A-Car and it was very successful in the market. People used to say it had everything it took to make a splash in the market: “efficient, economic and fascinating”. It featured a 254 cc engine. A British version was sold as the Sheffield Simplex (350 cc Simplex engine, manufactured in Sheffield, England).
