Havana´s Carnival is a reference for many carnivals of the world, and that is something we have to raise awareness about. When we get to maintain its continuity and sell the Carnival as a cultural and tourist product, we will undoubtedly be able to afford many of the expenses it generates, because it is a very expensive celebration.
From next September 1st, the Carnival of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Havana will begin to be prepared. That has been decided by the Government of the city and the Provincial Board of Culture. A colloquium will be convened so that scholars and all those who love cultural traditions may sit down and talk about the Carnival that was, the one that is and the one that will be.
We want artists from all over the country to pay tribute to the capital in 2019. We will also invite some of the main carnivals of the world. More than a goal, it is a challenge. It will be a starting point to have the Carnival we want because the people deserves so much.
