Cira Garcia Central Clinic. A Medical Tourism Forerunner in Cuba’s Healthcare Services
As a forerunner of medical tourism in Cuba, the Cira Garcia Central Clinic in Havana received the 2008 ISO 9001certification granted jointly by the National Standardization Office and the Veritas Bureau (International Certification Entity), as a token of the establishment’s services of excellence.
“We have won this certification because we comply with very demanding requirements under the ISO guidelines. Perhaps the hardest task will start now: to keep up the good work and move on further. Our staff is fully aware of that commitment.” Those were the remarks uttered by Ramon Prado Peraza, director of the Cira Garcia Central Clinic, as he was handed in the certification in a meeting held at the International Conference Center in Havana. The institution provides general clinical and surgery services with great reputation in such specialties as orthopedics and plastic surgery, let alone round-the-clock medical emergencies. This clinic is basically dedicated to catering to the diplomatic corps and foreign businesspeople stationed in Havana. It has a longstanding history in the advance of medical tourism in Cuba, a modality that constitutes a benchmark in terms of scientific rigor, honesty and humanism of its physicians and paramedics.
