Hispanicity Day or Hispanic Day was observed last October 12 at Spain’s embassy in Havana, amid Spanish typical music, aromatic candles and friends.

His Excellency Mr. Manuel Cacho Quesada, Spanish ambassador in Havana, and his distinguished wife Mrs. Maite Garcia de Oteiza, along with other officials who work at both the diplomatic mission and the Consulate, welcomed the guests. The function was attended by representatives from the Diplomatic Corps stationed in the Cuban capital, as well as ranking officials from the government and state-run cultural institutions, such as Alfredo Guevara, president of the Latin American Movie Festival and founder of the Cuban Institute of Art and Film Industry (ICAIC); Nisia Agüero, cultural promoter and founder of the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists; Tubal Paez, President of Cuba’s Journalists and Writers League (UPEC), painters Juan Moreira and Alicia Leal; musicians X Alfonso, Carlos Alfonso and David Blanco; Literature National Prize winner Cesar Lopez; movie­makers Juan Padron and Enrique Pineda Barnet; actresses Eslinda Nuñez, Luisa Maria Jimenez and actor Rene de la Cruz. The guests spent two hours of joy and satisfaction surrounded by music, drinks and food.
