- «Being an artist is all I've done in my life»
«Being an artist is all I've done in my life», says Ana Nora Calaza, actress, singer, musician, director and trainer of voice actors for radio programs and Cuban TV. This woman found a new challenge and a source of personal fulfillment in the narrative of films for the blind.
Ana Nora likes feeling how the message to children for whom she works is conveyed. «I have directed the narrative of Cuban films such as Conduct, Pinkie, The Eye of the Canary, ... I never imagined myself doing this work. Nor did I think I could do the soundtrack for others. One never knows when what we have learnt in life will be put in practice.»
Her multifaceted training and experience in radio, TV and theatre, has provided her with tools for success. «I have had the privilege of working in children's programs that are well known in Cuba and whose songs and characters have endured over time and traveled to every continent, hummed and interpreted by Cubans of our generation. Today many of them come to Cuba and ask us to sing for their children and grandchildren. The key is that we have always created art with the children in mind.»
Ana Nora graduated from the “Amadeo Roldan” Conservatory and the School of Artistic Formation of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT in Spanish). She is the founder of Actuar agency, for which feels a great sense of belonging and identity.
She enjoys offering the best of herself in each performance «to be an artist is a gift you are born with, you bring with you and you mold it. It is the only way to give your soul to the public and social projects.»
