Tripadvisor is a highly visited gallery in Santiago de Cuba, a reference for artists and cultural promoters, a true and incessant art center that has already celebrated more than a year of foundation.
Alberto Lescay, president of the Caguayo Foundation, invited us to visit it. It is the ideal setting to exhibit and commercialize plastic arts without there being artistic concessions or a contradiction. The gallery is located in an old house on Manduley Avenue, in the Vista Alegre neighborhood, and is part of the Caguayo Foundation's system in the second Cuban capital.
There they hold talks on plastic arts, audiovisual and book presentations, and various cultural promotion actions such as guided visits by schools or other study centers.
After the main exhibition room, there are spaces dedicated to the promotion of the best art, since works and banners with the life history of sculptors of the region are displayed, such as the rooms dedicated to the promotion of artistic ceramics. There is also an exhibit of sculptures cast in bronze, of small and medium format, which allows to show the high aesthetic-formal quality of the pieces made with these materials.
The gallery René Valdés Cedeño is, just after year and a few months of founded, a true reference of how to articulate the promotion of the plastic arts with a market that cannot be supremacy, if it is set to defend the authentic culture.
