- Havana: Fast & Furious.
FOR ALMOST FIFTEEN DAYS THE CUBAN CAPITAL LIVED ITS FIRST-EVER PARTICIPATION IN A HOLLYWOOD BLOCKBUSTER, THE EIGHTH INSTALMENT OF FAMOUS FAST & FURIOUS MOVIE
Havana's seafront recalled the car races that made it popular back in the 1950s, when even one of the world Formula 1 circuits was raced in Cuba.
Traffic jams, closed streets, paralyzed businesses and hundreds devoted to stop onlookers from going into the locations, this was the first time these situations were seen in Havana with a Hollywood blockbuster.
The Cuban “almendrones” (vintage cars) play the leading role in the Cuban episode of Fast & Furious 8, scheduled to be premiered in 2017.
Hundreds of people in Havana participated as extras, technicians or supporting staff in the different locations where the Cuban actions were shot, which producers said will barely take 20 minutes of the movie.
Besides Fast & Furious, there are speculations related to the possibility of other successful sagas, like Transformers, coming to Havana or any other Cuban location to film some of their actions.
