The ninth season of Swab Barcelona will open from September 29th to October 2ndwith more than sixty galleries exhibiting works from five continents. In addition, more than eighteen thousand visitors will participate. A large a number of programs, awards and activities related to emerging art in the city throughout the year will also take place.
The fair has presented its programs for this 2016 Edition; in it is included, for a third consecutive year, Swab Solo, whose galleries will present exhibitions of artists from Latin America.
The exhibition offers a huge visibility to the Barcelona panorama. Additionally, it will have among its proposals Swab Installations, which proposes several programs aiming to establish an exchange between them and their city.
They also highlight Swab On Paper, Seed Swab, Focus Maghreb, Swab Performance and In / 0ut. The first announces ten individual projects of the best European galleries. Seed Swab, in his second chance, will remain a space of visibility and debatefocused on the work of European galleries. Focus Maghreb is designed as an open space, a meeting point where in addition to the five galleries from Spain and the three countries of the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia), a series of presentations of artists, curators and projects different regions converge.
Swab Performance will unveil the craving for the fair to activate a performing space, which in turn is an autonomous integral part of the event.
Meanwhile, In / 0ut gives the possibility to establish links between some of the most evocative artistic creators in present times.
Program Swab Barcelona will maintain its usual pattern of Spanish galleries and the world of contemporary art, while the program MYFAF will bet on three contemporary art galleries with less than two years of existence.
