Photography has always been the passion of my life. For more than two decades now I have devoted my greatest efforts to a sustained and uninterrupted work as a cameraman, photograph director and documentary film maker. Now I share my cinematographic work with the still photo, which broadens the scope of my work and brings new emotions into my life.

I chose the topic of African roots in order to explore our African roots and heritage, motivated essentially by an incurable desire to create.
I feel an immense attraction and curiosity for the magical-mystical world that surrounds religions of African origin and their expressions in Cuban society. This is how this project was born, which is already beginning to take off, and that, if God grants me health, strength and lucidity, I will continue to do and take it to other parts of the world.
It is a reunion with our roots and African ancestors, a journey to the spiritual paradise of those men and women who were torn off their native lands and brought by force to ours, without other belongings than their memories, rites, songs, languages, dances and, of course, religious beliefs.
Those practicing Cuban religions of African origin are also the Revolution, society, an indissoluble part of this Cuba, of its history and identity. It is not possible to separate them from the Cuban nation, because they are carriers of our roots, exponents of our culture. I have put into the works of a patriotic nature, which I have made throughout all my life, the passion that I now put into these. No more, nor less.
I find it impossible to separate myself from my style, from the individual way of facing life to perpetuate or poetize it in audiovisual sequences or photographs. I look with my heart, both with the film or video camera or with the still photo camera. I always do my best; I do not leave anything for tomorrow. Everything I do is in the belief that I am living the last day of my life.
