We thank this lady of an eternal smile, clear voice and almost innate teaching not only for the training of more than five hundred Cuban children of that time as radio announcers, but also for the possibility of participating in recreational activities, where we acquired artistic, aesthetic and human values that marked us forever.
"Although Corresponsal Rapilisto was born at the request of the Unión de Pioneros de Cuba, as the creator and director of this radio program I was able to give free rein to my imagination until it became a cultural project where not only children from all over the country were involved, organized through the círculos de interés, but also great personalities of Cuban culture: actors, musicians, announcers, journalists, playwrights, writers like Dora Alonso...who conveyed their experiences and contributed to their artistic formation.
«Those children began to work professionally on the radio, they learned to read and...he who reads well learns well; this enriched the project and allowed the program to remain on the air from 1967 to 1986».
«My mother, Amparo Montalvo, had a beautiful voice, recited very well, and was a potential actress; she would organize gatherings in our house in Old Havana, in societies and clubs, frequented by working youth with artistic concerns and by historical personalities such as Juan Gualberto Gómez.
»I like theater a lot. I've had the opportunity to do television, movies, advanced in years though, but I always go back to the radio because everything is there: the ability to create and expand the imagination infinitely. In my case, my age and my accumulated experience does not allow me to say that I feel fulfilled, especially when technology is so changing and the imagination needs to continue to flourish along with technological development."
