Sucre, provincial capital of the Chuquisaca Department, in Bolivia, is well-known as the four names’ city: Charcas, La Plata, Chuquisaca and Sucre.
The magnificence of this metropolis is acknowledged, among other attributes, due to its millennial architecture, its museums and the General Cemetery of Sucre, the first heritable cemetery of Bolivia, plus the most important. On the entrance arc, it is sculpted a phrase written in Latin: Hodie mihi cras tibi («Today for you, tomorrow for me»).
Besides its beautiful and immaculate gardens, the sumptuous pantheons, the prominent figures representing the Politics and Culture of Bolivia, those who lie there in peace, this cemetery has a special detail: there’re hundreds of children, teenagers and young people who work as ladder people –to reach flowers up to high niches-, prayers -blind people or children considered pure souls to say prayers requested by the deceased people’s relatives- or guides that travel you around the cemetery, telling their own story.
