The year 1957 was another year of success at the Cabaret Tropicana, and two performances with Asian rhythms were registered: Un paraíso de Asia and China Town. In those shows, a group of prominent Chinese artists and dancers took part with the presence of the traditional Chinese dragon.
The Tropicana’s shows had come to reach an unexpected international level and were considered as spectacular as the Bergere Follies of Paris, The Lido, the Moulin Rouge, and the Sand in Las Vegas, that were, at the time,  competing for the international tourism  in the world.
Serenata Gaucha, with the performances of Dick, Biondi and Olga Chorens, and Fantasía Mexicana, with costumes bought in Mexico specifically for the show at a cost of more than twelve thousand pesos, were highly praised by the audience.
Rodney’s choreographies were very authentic and full of an excellent imagination. It was not the classic musical we often found in places without an argument or a plot. Although many people did not consider him a good dancer, he showed his extensive knowledge and mastery, for which he sought the collaboration of great choreographers such as Alberto Alonso, Luis Trápaga and Henry Bell.
The dances offered a structure that had very little variation. A choir made up of six men and six women; the classic rumba couple; a quartet of voices, and other groupings of renowned prestige. Well-known artists and dancers with local or international recognition were always included. The rumba couple was always present in the shows, and besides performing, had the purpose of inviting the tourists to join the stage in a rumba dance. The music, with some exceptions like the case of Chico O'Farrill, was the excellent arrangements of Romeu.
The special attraction of the show was the sculptural images represented by the Tropicana models. Along with these models were also included six foreign women who were selected by Rodney and Ardura. Requirements: height; body; skin color, length and styling of their hair and weight. Those who did not meet these requirements were excluded. That was the rigor of Rodney.
