Those hooked on shopping binges don't have to worry. Mexico offers beautiful top-of-the-line items, fruit of great cultural and traditional craftsmanship. Jalisco is one of the most important states for these kinds of creations, and there are towns like Tlaquepaque or Tonala, near the capital, that are considered cradles of the country's handicraft tradition.

In Puerto Vallarta, stores are scattered all around town and they are packed with handicrafts, fantastic pieces and jewelry made of Taxco silver, international brands and all kinds of keepsakes. Perhaps the downtown area is where people find more places, artisans' markets, shopping malls, stores lined up along the Seawall and next-to streets for taking strolls.

The Cuale River Isle, the romantic zone and the Marina are also great choices close at hand.
