Sierra Escambray
The name Escambray in Cuba is associated with nature and suggests mountains, exuberant vegetation, rivers and landscapes, typical of the heart of the island in its southern area.
Escambray–the ideal area for hiking lovers–the second Cuban mountain range, is only surpassed by the famous mountain range of the Sierra Maestra, located in the eastern area of the island. The Cordillera links the three provinces of the center: Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spíritus, and this characteristic has turned these places into natural areas of great attractions.
Many are the spots to be visited in the Escambray. The Hanabanilla-the only lake located among mountains in Cuba-has a surface of crystal-clear water of 18 km2, and stands out for its extraordinary beauty.
