Holguín
Along the coasts of Holguín Province are the beaches of Guardalavaca, Esmeralda, Pesquero, Don Lino, Las Caleticas and others found in the natural landscape of Bahía de Naranjo Natural Park and La Mensura National Park of Nipe-Cristal mountainous region, also the birthplace of Saetía Cay.
Saetía Cay, a natural paradise, is the privilege corner of the land, a territory extending over 42 km2 to enjoy the sun, the beach and adventures in an exclusive lodge, abundant in antelopes, wild boars, crocodiles, zebras and other animals as hutias, iguanas and water buffaloes.
A ride on a boat makes travelers to experiment the fierceness of the forest with the most peaceful atmosphere of the cay and the beaches, fit to recover the emotional balance in contact with the wild life.
Pinares de Mayarí, located in the Nipe-Cristal mountainous region, is attractive for its vegetation and the special micro climate of its park named La Mensura where over 290 endemic species of the Cuban flora blossom. The park also features a small botanical garden, ecotourism trails and water springs.
Bahía de Naranjo Natural Park, is another of the natural jewels of the region; Naranjo Cay is in the center and features a dolphin aquarium where visitors can swim with the dolphins, a show with sea animals is also there performed.
The eco-archeological trail of Las Guanas is also very close, and provides easy access to its coastal ecosystems and to the amazing sculptural and archeological representations in Holguín province, at the Chorro de Maíta Cemetery, a former aboriginal settlement.
Historical essences are clearly seen in places like Bariay Cay and Chorro de Maíta, situated at the ends of the Christopher Columbus National Park, sites featuring settlements where the aboriginal population used to live, a museum-cemetery and the taíno village which culturally recreates the life of the Cuban ancestors.
