The 39th edition of the contemporary art fair “Arco Madrid”, between February 26 and March 1st, came to an end with very positive results and a high sales rate. And although visitors’ numbers have dropped by seven percent, to ninety-three thousand, critics believe that the quality of the works and selected artists has improved, which has attracted more national and international collectors.

The decrease in public was expected, for fear of contagion with the coronavirus, of which more than a hundred cases have been confirmed in Spain. However, there were no major cancellations among the galleries (209 from 30 countries) and guest collectors, and the event was normal.

With the participation of ten galleries, more than half of them coming from America, the curated program “Diálogos” focused on art practices in Latin America. As usual, in each space the work of two artists was exhibited, based on the idea of promoting an intergenerational dialogue.
