JR's lens travels around Cuba
As part of the project “Las crónicas de Cuba 2019”, the French street artist and photographer Jean René, best known by his pseudonym JR, travels with his team around several cities in the country.
In each of these cities and towns, JR captures just over a hundred faces. He is interested in expressions, those hidden in their eyes, in their countenance, in their thoughts... He pursuing, with “Las crónicas de Cuba 2019”, the objective of recreating the historical, cultural and social legacy from the voices and images of the country - above all those who inhabit it - in real time. The project is based on a collaboration and interaction between the management team and the Cuban society, which are documented through videos, audios...
In Holguín, under the auspices of the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts, his team, also composed of other photographers and filmmakers, worked in the vicinity of the “Plaza de La Marqueta” Cultural Complex, where they placed their tent and the large green screen.
