What poetry is
I started to write some very intense love poems in elementary school, then I turned to narrative. I believe that poetry chooses its interlocutors and lets them be known in due time, regardless of age.
My initial poetry readings were precisely in the school through the literature class. We read Bécquer, Neruda, Manuel del Cabral, Pedro Mir and many others and it was not an impetuous approach. What makes me return to literature as a reader was the reading of Gabriel García Marquez and Julio Cortázar, that is, the approach to the phenomenon of the Latin American boom.
Before I wrote more stories than poems, but poetry has possessed me. Poetry beats you and rewards you; it is a wonderful universe in which one feels very comfortable being in solitude, developing a very intense creative process. Poetry is in control.
