With over a decade of experience, the Urology, Andrology and Sexual Health Program developed by Cira Garcia Central Clinic represents a leading service focused on the comprehensive care of men health in Latin America and the Caribbean. “Quality of life is our goal,” Master in Sexuality, Dr. Ramiro Fragas Valdes, member of the board of directors of the Cuban Urology Society and president of its Andrology Section, explained.
“When a man feels that something is wrong with his sexual health, both him and his couple suffer in silence, and avoid talking about it or even looking for help, because they think that nothing can be done. This is an expression of such stereotypes and prejudices as male chauvinism, which hinder the access to opportune diagnosis and treatment,” the expert detailed.
According to the statistics obtained from numerous studies carried out around the world, which are in line with Cuban researches, nearly 50 percent of men (ages 40-70) suffer from erectile disorders, related to the inappropriate control of risk factors and unhealthy lifestyles. “Over half of them will not mention this problem nor look for professional healthcare assistance,” the doctor said.
One of the strengths of the Clinic and the Program is precisely the holistic approach to these disorders, thanks to a multi and interdisciplinary team that counts on cutting-edge technology to carry out conventional surgical processes, minimum access and microsurgery.
“We work with a group of experts and collaborators from prestigious specialized centers, so the patient is treated in a comprehensive way,” Fragas Valdes underlined and placed emphasis on the advantages of offering patients from psychological and clinical care to the rest of medical specialties required to deal with each case.
The Program provides treatment for men’s sexual dysfunctions, such as erectile dysfunction or sexual impotence. “Moreover, we offer penis prosthesis, both malleable and hydraulic. The latter is a new technique, more aesthetic, simpler, faster and safer,” the professor underscored.
Besides surgical and medicine treatments, the Clinic supports the program with such equipment as low-intensity shockwaves, which contribute to improving the revascularization of the penis’ chambers and help men increase their sexual power.
Likewise, the team’s experience is vast in the treatment of ejaculatory disorders –premature, retarded or retrogress absent ejaculation–, and those related to sexual desire.
