ADVENTURES OF A HIDALGO IN THE 21ST CENTURY The Provincial Arts Center of Holguín closed its 2018 program and opened the doors to new commitments with an exposition dealing with its sixty years of artistic life. Visiones y presagios, by Jorge Hidalgo Pimentel, is an anthology that goes through the first steps of the author in the fifties to his most recent works. It tries to warn about the genesis and divertimentos of the expressionist stroke, the thick line, the preference for a sometimes grotesque figuration that gives way to a formulation where color, textures and verbal supplement give, as a result, a visual lyric with its own values. At 77 years old, Hidalgo learns with
humility and bequeaths a work protected by the sap of ancestral cultures present in the everyday life of our peoples. His name also authors poems and some of his works illustrate numerous publications of poetry and narrative. Holguín prides itself on having
him as one of its main artistic references.
