Other Zones
Before leaving the downtown area behind, we recommend you to drop in on Gringo Gulch, the same area where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton played out their romance, coupled with the Kimberly House –where the couple lived- including the Pink Bridge. This is a very special zone of cobblestone streets that go up to the mountain. Travelers may have easy access to it from the Malecon. The hotel zone kicks off at the Hotel Rosita and stretches out for miles, dotted with most of Puerto Vallarta’s lodgings down a lovely boulevard of palm trees and a beach strip touching all of them. This long walkway is home to many of the shopping malls, restaurants of all styles and stores. Around the Las Glorias Plaza are airline offices, gyms, ice cream parlors and other places. And at the end of the zone lies the Vallarta Marina, a major entertainment center teeming with fun, shops and restaurants. In it, you’ll find some of the fanciest hotels and a pier for some 400 ships and boats. It’s great for strolling, lunching or dining. The lighthouse offers breathtaking views.
Fun
Vallarta is synonymous of fun, vacations, sleepless nights, laughter, dancing and good ambience. Most hotspots are lined up along the Malecon and the surrounding streets where you’ll hit upon bistros, bars, places to dance to the beat of salsa or disco music, listen to mariachis or rock bands performing live. However, there are many other places around town you can head to, like the Marina, the Cuale Island, Las Glorias and so much more. Drink with moderation to avoid spoiling the fun and wake up in the morning ready to carry on. Vallarta is so much more than just booze.
Shopping
CAN you imagine vacations without a chance to buy keepsakes, souvenirs or typical stuff to remember your trip? Mexico is a safe haven of craftsmanship in which creativeness and centuries-old traditions are realized in unique, genuine artworks. It’s important to think these are handmade artifacts their makers have spent a lot of time and wisdom into. Give them their true value and don’t try to buy them as if they were made-in-China goods. Here you’ll find ceramic, glassware, forged metal, fabrics embroidered by hand, dolls, tin, mirrors... an endless and captivating array of items full of centuries-old wisdom.
