To deluxe industry powerhouses, two all-Cuban products that share the same passion for excellence and identity, are the foundations of the Unión rum, the latest proposal whose o cial launch within the framework of the 17th Habano Festival underscores its golden birthplace.
The Habanos S.A.-Havana Club S.A. cobranding came into being –their founders say- naturally and nearly predestined. Both companies, that share common philosophies based on quality and authenticity that give the “Cuban Origin” value a big boost, had been mulling over the creation of the new rum for some time, a spirit aimed at further enhancing the Iconic Collection (Prestige line by Havana Club) with a beverage capable
of matching perfectly with the features of the Cohiba habano brand.
Thus, master rum maker Asbel Morales, from the Havana Club rum distillery in San  Jose, and Jose Fernandez, juror of the prestigious Habanosommelier Contest, put their knowledge and expertise together to come up with a new gourmet milestone. Moreover, both VIP customers from Havana Club International S.A. and habano smokers contributed for the  rst time in handpicking the end spirit.
While Cohiba Atmosphere, a brand created by Habanos S.A. for its diversi cation, chips in its ingrained premium quality, the Havana Club reference, and especially its insertion in the Iconic Collection series (preceded by HC Selección de Maestros, HC 15 Years and HC Máximo Extra Añejo), means an undisputed excellence hallmark.
With a 40-degree alcoholic content and an expression that matches fully the purest Havana Club style, in which the complexity of the whole and natural aging process o sets the strong and sweet taste, the Unión rum brings back memories of dark amber, an irrefutable proof of a longstanding rest in casks. This hue gets a new twist of shades as it underlines woody and smoky scents sprinkled with smooth notes of citrus fruits, coconut, dry fruits and co ee. Once in the mouth, its woody taste brings up notes of vanilla, chocolate and caramel that call for its most natural sibling: the Cohiba habano.
