GORGEOUS NATURE
Just like Lin Pa, many of today’s tobacco growers sweat it out to get from the lands of Pinar del Rio the miraculous leaves that are later on curdled and rolled into smoking gems called Habanos, featuring such exclusive brands as Cohiba, the well-known Montecristo, the delicate Romeo & Juliet, or the more familiar Robaina, just to name but a few instances.
Pinar del Rio’s weather conditions, the soils and the sun have turned this zone into the perfect location to sow the seeds of tobacco and harvest its leaves. Moreover, the place is blessed with gorgeous nature and places teeming with charms everywhere you look around.
That’s why it’s so hard for travelers to pick a place to stop. It may be the Las Terrazas Biosphere Reserve, Saetia or Jutia keys, Isabel Rubio, San Juan y Martinez, Guanes, you name it. Each and every one of them is a nice spot brimming with lush landscapes and inhabited by kindhearted people.
Thus, Pinar del Rio, the Viñales Valley itself, is the Promised Land, a place where travelers can find rejoice on or beneath the ground, either scouring the mysteries of the caves or the silent seabed of Maria la Gorda. Or what about a daytrip to the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, a place where maybe you could hear the whispering sound of the setting sun as it touches the sea, as if it were waiting for the round-top hills to come up for a little company?
