He was born in Lima in 1949. He studied Letters and Fine Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and History of Art at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.

Since 1969 he’s created comics, caricatures and cartoons that have been published in Peruvian magazines and newspapers. In 1978 he put out his book entitled Making Comic Books, the first of its kind ever written in Spanish. In November 1979, he published the first episode of his character El Cuy, in La Calle.

In 1997 he was appointed honorific professor of the University of Alcala, an institution that grants the Quevedo Award on graphic humor. He currently makes political comics for the Peru.21 newspaper and a shadow play parody on national politics: his famous Love Story column.
