Was born in Santiago do Boqueirão, State of Rio Grande do Sul, in 1950. In 1970 he moved to Porto Alegre where he worked as an industrial technical drawer. He joined the School of Architecture and by 1975 began working as a professional cartoonist, making daily political caricatures for the Folha da Tarde newspaper. Santiago has had a successful career as a caricaturist. He has published in countless printed mass media, including Correio do Povo, Pasquim or Estado de São Paulo. His work has garnered recognition and numerous prizes in Brazil, Bulgaria and Japan, among other countries.
