- Cuba on the premises of the Iberia-American publishing industry
As a space for an intercultural, editorial and academic management dialogue at the highest level, the International Book Fair of Guadalajara was reaffirmed in its most recent edition, held at the Guadalajara Expo site in Jalisco, Mexico. This time, it was dedicated to the city of Madrid as the Honor Guest, and with the presence of more than seven hundred writers from twenty different languages, two thousand publishers and twenty thousand professionals representing forty-seven nations.
Paul Auster, a writer, scriptwriter and director of American cinema, opened the Literary Salon; Emmanuel Carrère, a writer, screenwriter and French director, received the FIL Prize for Literature in Romance Languages; Elena Poniatowska, a Mexican narrator and essayist received the Premio Cervantes (Cervantes Prize) 2013, as well as Almudena Grandes, a Spanish writer who received Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Award, they all starred during these intense days of the ambitious program.
The demand of Marti´s work, reflected through La Edad de Oro and the Versos Sencillos was an expression of that Cuba that looks on the world, Marti's Cuba, that of Lezama Lima´s; that Cuba of fiction and profound essay; that Cuba of poetry, which is syncretism, dance, and thought.
