It is the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, decreed by the United Nations. Despite crises, tourism advances faster than the global economy: tourist arrivals increased to 1,235 million. The trips and tourism already generate 10% of the world's GDP, according to data from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTCC) meaning 7.6 billion of dollars.
“Tourism is never the problem. The problem is us if We managed it badly ”, admitted Mr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the Organization World Tourism Organization (WTO) at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid. There, he advocated for a development strategy that takes into account the economic drivers, social inclusion, and respect for the environment, culture and security.
It is the reason why the United Nations sees the tourism sector as an engine for sustainable development, because tourism generates one of every 11 jobs in the world. WTO experts foresee that global tourism continues to rise this year. It attracts attention that Europe, leader in volume, will continue with moderate growth, while regions such as the Americas and the Middle East will double the figure of the old continent, while Africa will exceed 58 million of international arrivals in 2016, with eight percent similar to Asia and Pacific.
The Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, as part of its policy strategy in the sector, decided to bring the International Tourism Fair to the diversity of its destinations: this year takes Holguin. Grupo Excelencias greets such a precise and timely decision.
Holguin meets as a destination the possibility of developing the various types of tourism: not only the historic but also the ecotourism, the nautical sports, the specialized cultural, because its routes are as diverse and challenging as those of the Chan Chan road or the Beer. Also, its system of cultural and artistic festivals does not cease throughout the year, and claims to be empowered, from Gibara as the International Film Festival, Holguin with its May Romerias and Fiesta Iberoamericana, and all the way to Mayari as capital of Son.
To the tourist zone of Holguin already arrive to three hundred thousand tourists on dozens of international flights that operate in directly to its international airport, and that does not go through Havana.
We are witnesses that the International Fair of Tourism FIT Cuba has been positioned as the main event of professional character of the Cuban tourist industry, which has rounded the arrivals of vacationers to the Island until more than four million per year.
May Holguin be another step towards diversity and towards knowledge of a happy and sovereign people that raises its culture like the more beautiful face. Cuba is already a success story in the tourism sector.
