- Central America’s Open Sky.
Central America is increasingly becoming a common space for connectivity in the region, to enjoy its tourism privileges to the utmost
Like never before, doing a tourism circuit throughout Central America’s beaches, mountains and archaeological ruins has become one of the most sought-after adventures by tourists interested in enjoying the excitement of free movement.
This airlift, which is presently more diversified, not only brings direct benefits to the tourism activity, but it also fosters trade development in the region.
Different sectors have labeled air transportation as a feasible tool for their advance. That’s the case of banks, value transportation, and real estate companies interested in taking pictures of properties they want to sell or buy.
Executives, such professionals of the real estate sector as lawyers, architects and engineers, leave their cars aside and catch planes or helicopters for their daily jobs. But, after work, who says that visiting the main tourism spots of the area is not tempting?
Aboard an Adventure
Flying from Ometepe Island, in Nicaragua, to San Jose, Costa Rica, and then landing in Bocas del Toro, Panama, in barely three days, was impossible a few years ago. Nowadays, the most attractive tourism areas of each Central American country have come together in order to show us, during the journey, a mosaic of cultures and natural environments.
On our way to Nicaragua, Ometepe Island undoubtedly is a wonderful first stop for an interesting journey.
This island, whose name stands for “two hills” in Nahualt tongue, emerges in the huge Nicaraguan lake named “fresh-water sea” by the Spanish conquerors. With 276 square kilometers, it features two majestic volcanoes linked by a short isthmus, which make it stand out as one of the favorite natural destinations for national and foreign tourists alike.
These two hills have always been a heavenly spot, not only because of the hospitable character of the inhabitants, but the jaw-dropping landscapes that speak volumes of its archaeological wealth, quiet beaches and numerous nature reserves, where great biodiversity can be enjoyed.
From the wild nature, we land in urban San Jose, capital of Costa Rita, a city with plenty of attractive places that reflect the history of a nation, its art, culture and development.
Right in the heart of a volcanic mountainous chain and green hills, San Jose is a state-of-the-art and dynamic city, hospitable and metropolitan. The city has grown along with its cantons. Escazu is one of them and is described by most Costa Ricans as one of the most elegant and exclusive areas of the city, a perfect spot for people looking for peace and relaxation.
Our last stop, but not less enjoyable, is the northern region of the Panamanian Caribbean, in Bocas del Toro, Panama’s famous beach. Known as the “Galapagos of the Caribbean Sea”, this is one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet and one of the best ecotourism destinations in the country.
Bocas del Toro strikes the perfect balance between development and natural beauty. You can fly over the jungle on a zipline of Red Frog Beach, walk through the forests of Old Bank or ride on horseback over Quebrada de Sal. Discover native communities and learn how they make organic chocolate, traditional handcrafts and typical meals.
