Tips for Buying a Second-Hand Car
Before buying a second-hand car, keep in mind a series of signals that indicate the state of the engine and thus, let you know if your pick is right.
1-The smoke that comes out of the exhaust pipe:
If the smoke oozing out is white and the car is already hot, it indicates that the refrigerant is reaching the combustion chamber. If it is blue, it indicates that the oil is also entering the combustion chamber. If, on the contrary, the smoke is grayish or blackish it would indicate an incomplete combustion.
2-Oil leakage and general condition of the engine compartment:
If you open the hood and everything is clean, don’t get carried away too easily. Take a good look around to make sure there are no oil leaks. Check whether there is no smoke coming from the exhaust manifold, as it would indicate that some oil is falling on top of it. Check the hoses, all connectors and electrical connections. Make sure nothing drips.
