After 13 rough stages, Dakar 2016 has come to an end. Although many people thought that Carlos Sainz (Peugeot) was the favorite, Sebastien Loeb (Peugeot) would be accompanied by “novice” luck or Nasser Al-Attiyah (Mini) would hold his title as champion, it was Stéphane Peterhansel(Peugeot) who drove into victory after 45 h 22 min 10 s.

The 38th edition of Dakar finished with the triumph of Stéphane Peterhansel in the car category. The French pilot made the most of the power and safety of Peugeot 2008 DKR16 and he was victorious in a race that had been led by Carlos Sainz and Sébastien Loeb since the very beginning. However, Loeb lost his possibility to step on the podium due to his lack of experience in the hardest rally of the world, and a severe technical failure in Sainz’s car forced him to quit the race. After that, "Monsieur Dakar" never lost the first position.
