INVESTA 2019, 1st International Congress of Tobacco Research, will gather professionals interested in learning and sharing information on scientific-technical knowledge related to tobacco at the Havana International Convention Palace, covering the four processes that make it up: agricultural, pre-industrial, industrial, and marketing.
In recent years, there has been a growing international interest in researches related to dark air-cured tobacco to address the challenges derived from the climate change, the regulatory environment, and the consumers’ demands. This Congress will prove to be an excellent opportunity to discuss subjects linked to this sort of tobacco, not limited to this issue though, as the production of other types of tobacco such Virginia and Burley is growing considerably in Cuba.
Cuban experts in the scientific field will open the Working Sessions in Plenary with 30-minutes lectures during the 4-days event. Three researchers belonging to the Scientific Commission or the Agrochemical Advisory Committee of CORESTA (Cooperation Centre for Scientific Research Relative to Tobacco), will also present their lectures on the latest knowledge generated in the world on dark air-cured tobacco. Likewise, two world’s prominent figures in the field of dissemination of knowledge and scientific cooperation will present successful experiences that can be useful for the development of science in the tobacco sector.
One of the most interesting moments of the Congress will certainly be the workshop to be held with leading tobacco growers from all around Cuba, which will take place in the facilities of the Tobacco Experimental Station in San Juan y Martínez. This institution, founded in 1937, was the first in Cuba dedicated to tobacco research and the second one committed to agricultural researches. The visit will include a tour by the experimental areas and tobacco barns.
With a well-earned renowned experience for several years now, the Havana’s Convention Palace is the most prestigious event organizer in Cuba. Its rooms are ideal to meet the goals of the forum with the provision of simultaneous interpretation service Spanish-English.
The event website includes the possibility to make electronic payments; and the accommodation options include four hotels: Meliá Habana, Panorama, Comodoro, and Vedado.
INVESTA 2019 encourages authors to publish a complete article in a special issue of the journal Cuba Tabaco, edited by the Tobacco Research Institute. INVESTA 2019 also welcomes all kind of exhibitors related to scientific, productive and marketing topics of tobacco, so they can promote their products and services.
