El ministro del Poder Popular para la Cultura, Freddy Ñáñez, y el vicepresidente de la República, Aristóbulo Istúriz, junto al premiado dominicano-mexicano Héctor Díaz Polanco.

As part of the XII International Book Fair of Venezuela (Filven) 2016, which took place this November in the city of Caracas, Venezuela, the Dominican-Mexican anthropologist Héctor Díaz Polanco received the Libertador Prize for Critical Thinking 2015, for his book The Garden of Identities, community and power.
The book, which rose over more than 50 titles postulated for this award, provides readers with a valuable analysis of the importance of the community to confront the negative effects generated by neoliberal policies in the peoples of the world.
Diaz Polanco stressed the importance of consolidating and strengthening communities, as these spaces constitute the “garden where you can cultivate identity”.
Regarding this analysis, the Vice-President of the Republic, Aristobulo Isturiz, reiterated that “the only way to be equal is that we assume ourselves different” and that humanity is able to defend such diversity in the midst of the process of globalization and latent ethnocentrism in contemporary political thought.
The Minister of the Popular Power for Culture, Freddy Ñañez, said that this work allows the reader a more critical look at what the mass media transmit, which seek to control the population and keep their consciences asleep.
The Libertador Prize for Critical Thinking was created in 2005. This year's award went to its 11th  consecutive Edition.
