- Radio and Television in Cuba
With a rich renewed vocation and fight tradition against commercial interests, especially from the Unites States, the Cuban Radio is founded on the 22nd August 1922, and the Television on the 24th October 1950.
On the 24th May 1962, according to the Law 1030 from the Ministers Council of Cuba, the Cuban Institute of Broadcasting is created to spread and guide the radio and TV emissions along the country. In 1975, this institution is called Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT in Spanish).
Events such as the Radio and Television Festivals, the Radio and Television Convention, the Composition and Rendering of Country Music Contest Eduardo Saborit, the Alternative Music Festival Cuerda Viva and the Cuban Music Video Festival Lucas, honour the radio and television’s activity in Cuba.
