The Caribbean Festival left, in its wake, the Latin American and Caribbean spirit of more than seven hundred participants. This thirty-eighth edition was dedicated to the Isla del Encanto (“The Charm Island”): Puerto Rico.
As every year, mini festivals were held, including the colloquium The Caribbean that unites us, the International Workshop of Popular Religions in the Caribbean, the Caribbean International Salon and the Meeting of Caribbean Poets. The program covering the plastic arts with nineteen exhibitions was something to be underlined. Artist Alberto Lescay´s special guest for the inaugural exhibition at the Casa del Caribe was Eduardo Roca (Choco), Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas (National Award of Plastic Arts.)
The next edition, dedicated to Uruguay, is open: an non-stop event, always inspired on the legacy of Joel James, the main founder of the Caribbean Festival.
