The “Ballet Nacional de Cuba” has returned to Mexico, after a decade and a half of absence. It did so performing on grand stages, as corresponds to its top site in the world of international dance, and brought Giselle, according to specialized critics the most brilliant choreography by Alicia Alonso, inspired by the original by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot.

The musical accompaniment by the Symphony Orchestra of the “Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla” (BUAP), was a performance matching its prestige and that of the famous Cuban ballet company.

Memories tell that “Giselle” has a great importance within the National Ballet of Cuba, due to its meaning itself since that June 28, 1841 when it had its world premiere at the Paris Opera, going through November 2, 1943, when Alicia Alonso performed it for the first time during the New York Ballet Theater season, and also because with this work and with Alicia Alonso, her exceptional performer, Cuba transcended for the first time in the international field of dance.
