On April 6, 2002, Cuerda Viva (“Lively String”) was first aired with the purpose of "being a television program for young Cuban musicians, especially for the less-promoted or less-known areas, a space open to the youngest and the most valuable of national music," in genres such as rock, hip hop, jazz, trova, electronic music. And although it has not addressed only such areas, it has focused on them.
For the first time and systematically, the billboard of presentations and productions of this type of music started to be promoted, thus becoming a cultural promoter of youth creation and especially of the “Hermanos Saíz” Association, its artistic vanguard.
