Making the Sky The Best Place on Earth
This is how this airline’s slogan goes, the leading company in the number of passenger seats offered from Cuba to any destination in Europe with a grand total of nine weekly flights in the high-peak season (November thru March) and as many as seven the rest of the year.
Featuring two of the world’s most comfortable aircraft –Boeing 777, better known as Triple 7, and the famous Boeing 747 or Jumbo– Air France continues to set the tone in terms of airlift between Cuba and Europe. Guilhem Mallet, General Manager of the airline’s local delegation, told Excelencias magazine that in addition to professional and efficient in-flight services, Air France is the only company operating on the island nation that offers the exclusive business class to its passengers with 14 seats on the Triple 7 and 40 on the Jumbo. These are highly comfy reclining seats from which passengers can enjoy restaurant service and French wines “Moreover, we count on a very powerful and important connective platform, which is the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, with over 20,000 connection opportunities every week. We have many customers from Italy, Germany, Scandinavia, as well as Africa and Asia, mostly Chinese trippers,” he adds. This company set up shop in Havana in January 1997 and since then it has pursued a corporate policy with ministries, embassies and companies that includes discounts, booking conveniences and good prices. In the same breath, Air France is involved in sport and cultural activities going on in Cuba. It has provided major support to such events as the International Tourism Fair, the French Movie Festival and the Habano Festival. Mr. Mallet, a member of the Jean Nicot Fellowship and a smoker of Cohiba Siglo VI and Montecristo No.2 Habanos, said that this year Air France will not only have a booth of its own at the Festival’s Tradeshow, but it will also collaborate with Habanos by offering special airfares, a move the company first did in Nov. 2010 for the MARHABANA Marathon Race and it has resumed now “to further help put the culture of tobacco on the world map”.
