The opening of this huge hotel marks the beginning of a new management style by Gaviota S.A. in which the Cuban company's front office joins hands with an international team of collaborators in an effort to guarantee the resort's quality and good development.

The Playa Pesquero Hotel, built by the International Economic Association made up by French group Bouygues Batiment and Cuban building company U.C.M., sports a top-of-the-line design in keeping with international construction guidelines that recreates elements from the region's railroad and sugar-making industries, including a replica of the oldest steam locomotive that chugged around the area.

With this recreation, both the building and its decoration refer to Cuba's history as the fourth country in the world (the first in Latin America) to ever count on this means of transportation. The legend grows as guests saunter the hotel's halls and gaze at a harmonic architecture of its own.

Travelers happen on avenues named after well-known streets and spots of eastern Cuba, such as Enramada Street, Santiago de Cuba's La Gran Piedra and the Alto Cedro railroad station mentioned in Compay Segundo's popular song.

This 944-room hotel, distributed in bungalows, relies on an ample gourmet offer that includes three smorgasbord restaurants seating a grand total of 1,200 patrons, plus a couple of a-la-carte restaurants. A poolside outlet and a beachfront snack joint complete the service.

A boulevard breathes nightlife into the pool area in which entertainment is no doubt one of the hotel's strongholds. Animation is planned seven days a week from 9:00am to 11:30pm and embraces all ages, even babies and toddlers.
