Impossible to separate, the 18-hole golf course which belongs to Varadero Golf Club and the Mansion Xanadú, a harmonic whole.

When Irenée Dupont de Nemours ordered the construction of the residence baptized with the name of Xanadú at the beginning of 1930’s, a golf course was also built, first designed for 18 holes. The construction of Varadero Golf Club started in December 1994 in the same area of the original golf club. The works concluded with the opening of 18 holes. This golf course designed by architect Les Furber, is extended along a narrow stretch of 3.5 km long. It has been demonstrated that the scenarios preferred for the practice of this sport, are those near the sea. That is why, Varadero Golf Club, located in the incomparable Varadero Beach, has reaffirmed its prestige in the world and not only in this wonderful environment.

The Only One in Cuba The world prestige attained by Varadero Golf Club, is reaffirmed by the fact that in the greens over 60 tournaments have been held, most of them international events with the participation of different countries of Europe and the Americas. Among them excel Pro-AM of Sherritt (Canada), Copa Club Med (Italy) and Copa AUDI 2000 (Spain). From November 2-5, 2000, the second edition of PGA European Challenge Tour that has been held in Europe for 11 years, now took place at Varadero Golf Club. This was attested by Mr. José María Zamora, director of the tournament, who showed his satisfaction for the happy development of the event and the higher level achieved in this second edition. With this thrust Varadero Golf Club expands its projects, thus opening the first Golf School operated by PGA professionals and Varadero Golf Club’s professors and instructors. In summary, Varadero Golf Club continues its fast growth as an example for other future projects linked to the need of building new golf courses.
