In details
WATER: Puerto Vallarta is water, sea, its food and its life, the blood that runs through its veins. This choppy and mighty sea treasures many moments in the life of each and every resident, it gives us a gloomy mood, refreshes us and fills our senses.
MOUNTAIN: Mountains hem in Puerto Vallarta, and it's almost impossible not to feel mesmerized and overwhelmed by them. All you need to do is look up, take a deep breath and fall down at their feet, at their colors and their strength.
SKY: Skies are never the same: bluish, hazy, bright, pinkish, motley in the afternoons, starry and moonlit at night. Birds also fly across those skies, leaving their silhouettes up there. The sky over Puerto Vallarta compels you to look up at it.
PALM TREES: They populate the seawall and the hotel driveways majestically, as well as the mountains and the surroundings. They are indissoluble companions, silent and graceful dwellers; sometimes lit, always a gift.
COBBLESTONES: They stick on you whenever you walk on them, and become a part of you daily life. They force you to choose the right pair of shoes and help you not to forget you're just in a town. It's the village's loveliness and skin.
SEAWALL: The seawall is this town's main activity. Morning breezes in the dawning day, sweltering sun at noon, pastel colors in the sunset, and nights of colorful lights that glow in the sky. It's like a magnet that draws you near at any time. Nothing compares to being there and wallow in it.
DOMES: Domes are architectural and visual elements that stand for Puerto Vallarta. Guillermo Wulff brought them to town and they have since them become commonplace on houses and shopping malls, drawing the town's skyline.
FOOD OUTLETS: Poor us without them, during breakfast, at noon or at dusk. They're the rest every warrior needs: juices, fruits, tacos, quesadillas… Some of them are delicious. If you don't taste them, you'll never know what Mexican flavor is actually all about.
PEDDLERS: Undisputed stars of the beaches and plazas. They hawk virtually everything, from mantas, coconut oil and silver to tattoos and pastries. They walk in white for miles to make sure everybody in town has everything he or she needs.
MARIACHIS: Mexico is music. You can breathe it; it's everywhere, in houses, at the beach, when you take a walk. Blissful, sad or abandoned notes waft through the streets and touch your heart. Mariachis are from this state of Jalisco, and they are both a way of being and understanding life.
TEQUILA: This is Jalisco after all, the cradle of tequila, the fruit of blueberry that has turned out to be a universal beverage. Magical liquor used to swallow the sorrow as mariachis sing a tune, or to revel little by little in its intense flavor or during the wildest nights. Either straight or mixed, it's the flavor of Mexico.
JOHN HUSTON: His decision to shoot The Night of the Iguana here put Puerto Vallarta on the map and developed it as a world-class travel destination. Egged on by his friend, architect Guillermo Wulff, they picked Mismaloya as the setting. This place was never the same again.
