43rd CASA DE LAS AMÉRICAS LITERARY PRIZE January 21-31

A literary contest held every year under the auspices of Casa de las Américas. The Organizing Committee is headed by Dr. Roberto Fernández Retamar, a prestigious writer and a prominent cultural personality.

Casa de las Américas, an institution which promotes the Latin-American and Caribbean culture, annually urges writers to participate in its literary prize with unpublished books in the genres of novels, poetry, artistic literary essays and in the category of literature for children and youngsters. Also authors from the English-speaking Caribbean can participate with works of any genre written in English or Creole and published in these languages in the period of 1999-2001.

FEBRUARY

HAVANA'S INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR February 7-17

Held annually and under the auspices of the Book Institute, the venue of this fair will be Havana City, at San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress and other provinces. On this occasion, the Fair will be dedicated to France and to the Cuban writer, Miguel Barnet. The Organizing Committee is headed by Mr. Iroel Sánchez.
