- Nelson Domínguez
(Baire, Santiago de Cuba, on September 23, 1947)
He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Arte Cubanacán (National School of Art) Cubanacán (1965-1970), in which he worked as a professor (1970-1985). He has been a professor and the head of the Painting Department of the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) and has integrated the senate of the engraving specialty of that institution. His works have been exhibited in more than eighty personal exhibitions in Cuba and in the world, while he has participated in innumerable collective exhibitions. Museums, institutions and private collections from ten countries treasure the diversity of his work.
He is a member of the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, UNEAC) and the International Association of Plastic Artists (AIAP). He has been bestowed with the Orden por la Cultura Nacional (Order of National Culture,) and the Orden Alejo Carpentier (Order “Alejo Carpentier”.) He has also been bestowed with the Premio Nacional de las Artes Plásticas (National Prize of the Plastic Arts) of Cuba, 2009.
