Santiago de Cuba has always been a paradise, an amazing scenario that everyone wants to paint and make its beauty and spirit get stamped on the canvas. They catch the quality of its light, the mysteries of its corners, the intensity of its colors… There are many painters in love with the urban image of Santiago, but in the last 50 years, four great artists have elevated their passion for painting the town to a degree of wonder: Antonio Ferrer Cabello, José Julián Aguilera Vicente, Miguel Angel and José Loreto Botalín Pampín Horruitiner.
These masters of painting have captured the essences and have delighted us with fine art. They have made history. They were professors of art and landscape, always from the freshness and modernity, always authentic and truthful, faithful in defending the local, national and universal culture. The Bacardi Museum and other institutions preserve important works forming an impressive legacy of our city.
