Charisma, honesty and strength: that is the perfect combination, seasoned with good vibes and the special gift of communication, which make the musical work of Janio Abreu Morcate a must reference in Cuba.

Setting within the bounds of jazz - in the already renowned Cuban jazz - the work of this instrumentalist, composer, arranger and musical producer may be, by all accounts, a too reductionist vision. Certainly, after graduating from the Instituto Superior de Arte in 2008 with a Merit Diploma, and studying at the music school “Manuel Saumell” and at the “Amadeo Roldán” Conservatory, he has been in touch with this genre constantly. But he has done it, without a doubt, because he has been able to unleash his drive for experimentation with other genres of our land and other latitudes.

Clarinet and tenor saxophone, occasionally alto clarinet and the recent debut with the flute, alto saxophone and bass clarinet in his “Hijo del viento” record (Bis Music, 2019) define the attachment of this talented young Cuban to musical creativity, interested in showing that good music, with no labels, is best.
