Espectáculo Stars of American Ballet, danzado en el Teatro Mella.

For the first time in several decades, the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, organizer of the International Ballet Festival of Havana chaired by outstanding dancer Alicia Alonso, a few days after her 98th birthday, decided to invite its diaspora, which triumphs in the first ranks of important ballet companies of the world.
Another peculiarity to point out was the portentous presence of notable dance artists from the US, despite the intimidating statements of members of the Trump Administration.
This dance festival´s prestige has been enhanced by an important concentration of ephemerides - commemorated with their respective gala performances. Firstly, the seventieth anniversary of the foundation of the BNC, the seventy-fifth anniversary of Alicia Alonso's debut in Giselle in the old Met in New York, and the bicentenary of the paradigmatic Marseillais choreographer Marius Petipa. For these celebrations, an impressive number of foreign guests arrived in Havana; among them a little more than twenty foreign stars and groups, which allowed us to attend some thirty premieres in Cuba and five absolute premieres.
